I was having a shower tonight and the most random thought popped into my head. I was thinking about the film “Le Retour de Martin Guerre” and how dumb it was that they named “the guy who was thought lost in a war” Mister War. Guerre is war in French, after all.
And then I remembered that the given name Martin means warrior.
They really named this guy Warrior McWarface, didn’t they.
Anyway, maybe this was deliberate symbolism, rather than lazy writing? I don’t think I’ve watched the movie for 20 years. I don’t remember who wrote the book. I’ll go read up on it after I post this.
But just. Warrior McWarface. I give up.
VERY IMPORTANT PLOT TWIST THAT I DID NOT SEE COMING: IT’S A REAL GUY’S NAME. He was a historical figure!
